The Jerangkang Falls can be reached from the KL-Kuantan road. About 30 km after passing Maran, turn left at a signboard 'Hutan Lipur Jerangkang'.
The road leads through rubber plantations and passes under the new KL-Kuantan Highway.
For the last part a 4WD is needed, but that may change as work is in progress on the access road.

Camping near the waterfall

From the place where the car can be parked, it is only a 15 minute walk to the first waterfall.

Near this waterfall there is a perfect place for camping.
Still clean, but for how long?

The fall ends in a nice pool, the campsite's own bathroom...
A nice place to relax

Trekking along the river

left click for larger picture

From the campsite a clear trail leads uphill alongside the river. The main trail is on the right bank, but it is also possible to cross the river and follow the left bank.

An 'endless' succession of waterfalls is the reward, most of them with attractive pools

According to the locals, there is a total of 43 separate waterfalls.
These pictures cover the falls until step 15, so there is still work to be done...!

This series of waterfalls belongs definitely to the most attractive that can be found in Malaysia!

The trail is well marked, but in the upper parts, some scrambling is required

This region is well-known with the locals for its beautiful orchids

Because the river has eroded a broad gully, it is never difficult to find your way back

Hi Deeean, Waterfall trekking is a dangerous activity in general. therez always some sort of hazard. That being said, realtively Jerankang is ok. No dangerous river crossings. Just gotta be careful when u scale rock faces if you choose to trek the left bank after the last campsite (7th pic above).

I visted Jerangkang on Tuesday 11/06/13. 4X4 definitely recommended, normal sedan...maybe but you are taking a big risk. The falls are about 1/2 an hours drive from the start of the dirt road. You go over a bridge and turn right. Watch out for the next bridge on the right hand side, its not far from the first bridge near the Orang Asli houses. I missed the second bridge and drove off through the jungle quite a way, crossing Sungai Berjeram to a logging camp.

Hi guys, great looking waterfalls! Some questions: 1) Can the campsite fit like 6 tents? 2) Any dorms/toilets/showers nearby? 3) Basically, is this place suitable to organize a youth camp for 30people? Thanks!
sodut 11-07-2010
Hi all, me and my friends are planning to go either berkelah or jerangkang this 31/07/10, However, we concluded that we are going to jerangkang, reading on your comments. We are going on a day in a group of 10-15 people, however, sadly, none of us have 4WD. How far can a normal car (wira, viva, myvi, etc) once we hit the dirt road? Any contact person other than brother Koi? Your feedback is highly appreciated. Thanx guys!

Selain Berkelah, Jerangkang pun best cuma campsite agak limited. So saper2 yang nak try g Jerangkang nasihat agar dalam bilangan ahli kumpulan yang kecil. Waterfall mmg superb gang, try out yourself

I was impressed with the nature and the surrounding!you feel in the paradise. When you reach there, you must walk for 5 min to find the first waterfall. But please keep climbing to the second waterfall, where you find a lagoon to swim!! Attention - The rocks are very slipery, and to swim there you need to be experimented swimmer.4WD is needed to reach there, but drive carefully. you need to across the river with your truck, dont trust in the wood bridge. And to conclude, dont leave your trash there, PLEASE KEEP THAT PLACE NATURAL, CLEAN AND WILD.Thanks

Jerangkang is one of the most interesting waterfall in malatsia.

Been to this fall today. It will take u one hour driving to the falls from the main road. 4WD is a must. The road is getting real bad for cars. The place was deserted when i was there. RUBBISH EVERWHERE. The campsite is too far from water. U have to scramble down the rocks to reach the pool. All in 3 1/2 hours driving to this falls is not worth the trouble.
edmund3107 29-08-2007
Thanks for the info Ronny. Was hoping i could drive there. M a bit worried to leave my vehical outside
ronny 26-08-2007
Camp site shown is not accessible by any vehicle now. It prohibitted. Used to reach the camp site with modified lifted 4WD, mud tyres few years back. Just walk uphill for about 10 minutes to reach the site. Go and enjoy the beauty...........

ej 25-04-2005
it looks like bekelah waterfall.. but if these pics are really at jerangkang, we better go there!!
Fay 06-04-2005
1) Getting more accessible, no problem for Kembara at all.
2) The campsite near the river starting to become like Berkelah. Getting polluted :(. Fresh rubbish left over by some local university students when we trek up.
3) Quite new public facility at the base camp including toilet with flush.
4) Some inner area to another river is quite damaged by logging and/or forest fire. Feel like Saruman

A friend of mine recently visited Jerankang and scrambled uphill past the last waterfall. Steep and slippery. They reached another fall, but the water flow was less than at the lower falls, so there must be other water sources. It is clear that more work needs to be done!
razlan 20-09-2004
Some changes since i last went in 1999 The waterfalls area are still relatively clean. In the parking area at start of the trek, Forestry dept (i guess) has erected toilets, huts cooking area. This can acommadate a lot of people.(i.e. kem motivasi). Hope the place can be kept pristine as before. oh yeah when there on 18sept04.
