Chelir Falls (or Celir) is a waterfall series located deep in the region of rural Raub accessed from Batu Malim town. Several documented visits is available on the online sphere (here) and (here) stretching as far back as 2014. Including one done by our very own member Snailworks Faye. (view) Due to its remote location requiring long traveling time and a rather long hike distance (~9km one way and >3hours) it did not gain much traction among the hiking community.
Several sources has quoted that there are 7-8 levels of waterfalls, but this is unverified and only 4 falls have been conclusively documented (plus 2 cascade falls). This waterfall is NOT suitable for beginners at all. Visitors need to be mentally prepared and should be of considerable fitness under the guidance of a guide who is familiar with the region due to the long demanding trail and unmarked jungle trails.

Lata Chelir (Fall 5???)

Head to Batu Malim town as the nearest landmark town. (here) From here, take the junction going into Jln Ulu Sungai. Follow the well maintained tarred road all the way into Pos Buntu. (here) There are 2 junctions here. On the left, visitors can head to Lata Lembik to camp for the night. On the right, the center gravel road is the start of the trailhead. Normal sedan cars will no longer be able to proceed from this point out. Do not try driving in as the bushy trail is overgrown and narrow. There would be no possibility of making a u-turn to back out. Proceed by foot from this point.

The early section of the trail passes a valley of rubber trees before entering more wild jungle trails where 4x4 muddy dual track has traverse in the past. The 4x4 track curves around hills on the right side of the Sg Kenur stream all the way up to the 1st stream crossing. (Image 1) After crossing the stream there are more jungle trails that keeps to the right side of the stream. 2 cascade falls are found close to the confluence of the stream documented below. (Image 2 & 3.)

Visitors can river trek if wish to visit the next waterfall where there is a small sized but very deep dark pool (Image 4.) otherwise skip this level and continue on the jungle trail right of the stream up the slope. After overcoming the steep climb up the slope, visitors have the option to branch off from the main trail down to the stream to visit the waterfalls available before Lata Chelir. There are no clear visible trails down but are worthwhile the effort. They are pictured below with their respective positions. (Image 5 & 6.) The main trail will otherwise take visitors directly to Lata Chelir. (3.98527, 101.59868) Do not progress pass this point as it will continue to another location where mountain hikers continue up to Gng Lebah Timur.
