Surut Falls
Surut Falls is a series of boulder cascade falls with an unusual twist. Where conventional streams will usually form a single stream at its narrow funnel sections, Sg. Surut has 2 different streams. The right stream has lower water flow and eventually leads to a boulder section that is very challenging to traverse. The correct and actual stream is on the left. The 1st waterfall has a nice spread of water although lacking in height. At the 2nd fall, the view is blocked by rock boulders but it has a wide pool. Fall 3 is a sloped fall also obstructed by a big boulder. This waterfall is NOT suitable for beginners due to its long trail that is sometimes rather vague.
Head to either Rembau from the west or Johol from the east. Take Route N14 and proceed along the quiet stretch of road till arriving at this point. There is no parking space inside the narrow road, visitors are advised to park outside by the main road. Plenty of space by the road shoulder to park without obstructing local villagers.
While it is possible to continue river trekking, the trail will not be easy and requires bushwhacking if following beside the river. There is nothing significant found upriver other than some cascades along the way that ends at a sloped cascade fall pictured below.
