The Lentang Recreational Forest is within easy reach of Kuala Lumpur. Although there are no real waterfalls, the park is a pleasant spot for an outing. To reach the place, just take the highway to Kuantan and take the exit to Lentang.
The entrance of the Hutan Lipur
The park is well maintained and has some food stalls
The stream has many place where you can bath safely
It is possible to continue by car along the road, leading into the Forest Reserve. Depending on your car and your experience, you will park somewhere and then you can go on trekking.
At the other side of the river you will find picnic spots and campsites
During our visit, we spotted a large number of Raja Brokke butterflies.
And we saw cute, tiny mushrooms.
The trail along the river becomes smaller and smaller. At then end it became too overgrown to proceed without a parang. Not much further there should be a water catchment area.
The river was carrying a lot of water during our visit (monsoon season)
The surroundings become more pristine at the end of the trail
And this can really be called a waterfall.
Sept 2023 Update : The Lentang Eco park has been closed for quite a long time now without any reason provided since 1st Nov 2022.

Salam. Friends, this place is really cool for a dip. Suitable cold water for all. Some areas are shallow - good for kids & family. Some places the water current is swift and fast - suitable for good swimmers. End of the day, worth going and pls keep an eye on snakes & big ants.

Lentang is a great break from highway travel and easy to get to from KL. Can be crowded but find a place to hang out for a picnic, swim and walk the trails along the river. Flying lizards, Rajah Brooke butterfly and sounds of gibbons are all possible.

This is a nice place for family, campings and picnics. Long stretch of stream that offers many spot for private swimming spot. So private that one time I went there, at the deeper part of the stream, I bumped into a couple of guys playing doctors with syringes. With 3 young boys on tow, I left to another safer spot, ready to plunge our tired feet in the water but there were fishing hooks at the sandy river banks. I guess, I could blame that on the campers who knows too little about keeping the nice park safe and clean. Probably next time, I will keep to the lower part downstream where my kids can swim safely.

Nice place. Almost every year been here since my hometown is in Pahang. Travel from KL to Pahang and vice versa, sometime just take a short break there.
