Waterfalls   for the  adventurous

The Lolo Waterfall - also the 1st campsite to Gunong Nuang

There are twin obscure waterfalls hidden inside a gorge.

To reach this place, the track to the waterfall or rather the picnic area is a broad all weather 4X4 vehicle path. At the start of this track, there is a beautiful paved car park of an abandoned Chalet project. The Forestry Department's building is just opposite. Make sure you report your intention to the Rangers before hiking up the track!

A slow walk along this 5 kilometers path is just over an hour, unfortunately most of the way uphill.

Along the way, there are stretches that levels up to give some reprieve, shades and even paved. Here is a beautiful bamboo forest.

This broad track ends in a paved car park or picnic area, unlikely to see cars here with sheds and benches. On the right are steps down to the rapids. After that tough walk uphill, most day trippers would choose these spots as their destination for that outing. From here make their way down before dark!

For those staying overnight or moving up to Gunong Nuang, they will cross the river and make their way up alongside this waterpipe.

A straight ascend of another 0.5 kilmeter.

When the water pipe stop ascending, the catchment area is on a hillslope on top of this pipe that has been moving beside a deep gorge on our right.

A low embankment built on top of the cliff wall supporting the waterfalls hold the water to be directed by the pipe.
Just before climbing up to the catchment area and leaving behind the pipe, peep into your right and you will see this tiny and civil waterfall with excess water flowing out of the dam.

It will be a fair size waterfall if not for the fact that a large volume of its flow has be re-directed elsewhere.

In the wet season, situation returns to normalcy where the excess amount of water is not required.

Now the waterfall returns to its usual glorious moments.

Here see carefully there are 2 waterfalls. The nearer one is excess water discharged from the dam. The one on the right are also excess water from another stream that is normally tapped to supplement flow into the dam during dryer times

This is the sight how this waterfall should look like.

Broad and roaring with energy. With dininished flow most of the time, the pool at the bottom of the waterfall is too shallow to talk about.

Now this is scene seldom seen. This waterfall do not exist most of the time. Waterfall down is too small to raise that white curtain, which most people associate as waterfalls.

Furthermore, one needs to get down to the ravine walk pass a bamboo grove to reach this waterfall.

This is how this waterfall would look like from the side

The height of both these waterfalls is approximately 12 meters high.

Water from both waterfalls join up as a larger river to go into the next drop some 20 meters away. This time the waterfall is another sharp but low drop of 5 meters.

Enjoy the great natural wonders that Malaysia preserves.
