Seminai Falls features a 2 tier cascade fall with a chest deep pool. Located deep in the jungle with pristine cooling waters, its trail will reward visitors with wide panoramic mountain views. It has several cascade falls upriver as well, but are less rewarding relative to the effort required. While there are some local OS trails, it is not suitable for beginners due to the long and challenging hike.
Seminai Fall 1
Head to Sungkai town as the landmark. Near the center of the town is a Petron station that leads to the inner region of Ulu Sungkai.(Image 1) Proceed inwards along the main tarred road towards National Wildlife Rescue Centre. A narrow road on the right of it leads to several indigenous villages. Continue along the tarred road. Outside of the Kg Jernang village border is a right offroad trail that leads to the Sg Sungkai river. There is barely any parking space inside, so visitors are advised to park by the road shoulder before the junction without obstructing passing traffic.
Before proceeding by foot, visitors are advised to check for weather conditions. The trail will lead to a knee deep river crossing where tractors cross to the opposite side of the river. This mighty Sungkai river can however transform significantly into a raging fast flowing river that will not be passable for many hours if it is experiencing wet seasons or rain. Take precaution about this before crossing or visitors will be forced to make a detour via the alternative bridge exit up north.
After crossing the river, the trail proceeds along the estate trails beside the Sungkai river heading towards the confluence of the Seminai Falls stream. There are many junctions and trails used by the local OS and can be confusing. Progress on the left of the Seminai Falls stream before reaching a river crossing where the trail continues on the right of the stream.(Image 2) A guide is highly recommended to visit this waterfall.
